Khanenko Museum of Art
Museum of Western and Oriental Art in Kiev, also known as the Bogdan and Varvara Khanenko Museum is the largest collection of foreign art in Ukraine: ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome; unique Byzantine icons of 6-7 centuries; classical European and Oriental Art. During the Soviet times, the museum ranked the third in the USSR by the value and size of its collection after The Hermitage in Saint Petersburg and the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow. Throughout the years the collection has increased from 1,250 to over 17,000 artworks, totaling over 25,000 exhibits. Famous masterpieces include a Portrait of Infanta Margaret by Diego Velázquez, paintings of Gentile Bellini, Jacob Jordaens, Jean-Baptiste Greuze, Francisco Zurbarán, Luis de Morales, Claudio Coello, Claude Joseph Vernet, and Peter Paul Rubens among many others.
Art Museum of Ukraine
The National Art Museum of Ukraine is a museum dedicated to Ukrainian art in Kyiv, Ukraine. After Ukrainian Independence, the museum reached the status of a major international institution. For the first time, its collections traveled outside of the country and were exhibited in The Netherlands, Canada, France, Denmark, and Croatia. Today, the museum continues to expand its collection. Some new additions include a unique icon relief of St. George, works by the international Kyiv born pioneer of Geometric abstract art Kazimir Malevich, a world-renowned constructivist Vasiliy Yermilov, and Cubo-Futurist Alexander Bogomazov.
National Museum of Russian Art
The museum has the largest collection of Russian art in Ukraine. The funds are more than 12 000 exhibits – icons of XIII century, paintings and sculptures of XIX-XX centuries. The collection reflects almost all the major stages of Russian art development, from the XII century – until today. Among the most famous works are the icon of the pre-Mongol period, “Boris and Gleb” – a monument built in Novgorod at the end of XII, paintings of Levitsky, Tropinin, Serov, Perov, Makovsky, Vasnetsov, Repin, Antokolsky, Vereshchagin, Vrubel, Ge , Shishkin, Kuindzhi.
Art Center Ya Gallery was opened 10 years ago. The main goal of it is a consistent support, development and promotion of contemporary art. Art Center holds lectures and master classes, round tables and discussions, initiates museum projects, organizes exhibitions of Ukrainian artists abroad, collects a library. Ya Gallery collaborates with talented artists of Ukraine and realizes their exhibition projects in various exhibition venues, both in Ukraine and abroad.
