It’s the moments of surprise and delight that can really make someone’s day and we take pride in our skills in the ‘art of the surprise’ here at Radisson Blu!
The birthday surprises
When Valentin, Concierge at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Bucharest, learned that one guest was celebrating her birthday during a stay at the hotel, alone and away from her family, he took it upon himself to cheer her up. Not only did he arrange for a birthday cake and champagne to be delivered to the guest’s room, but it was also organised for her usual taxi company to greet her with a beautiful bouquet of flowers. Happy birthday indeed!
Meanwhile, the birthday surprises extended to superstar singer-songwriter James Blunt during his stay at the hotel during a recent tour. He was surprised with a guitar-shaped cake and a chorus of ‘Happy Birthday’ from staff in honour of his big day.
The beer surprise
When Zuzana, F&D Service Manager at the Radisson Blu Carlton Hotel, Bratislava, had a week working behind the hotel’s bar and enjoying the company of one particularly entertaining guests, it only seemed fair to return the favour. Zuzana and colleagues organised a gift for the guest’s last night in the hotel of the traditional Slovak dark beer - his drink of choice during the stay - complete with glass and a card signed by everyone. Cheers to that!
The dinner surprise
It was a case of the proof of the pudding being in the eating for one happy guest when she was treated to a taste of home by Jakub, Sous Chef at the Radisson Blu Alcron Hotel, Prague. Having found out that the guest, who was visiting from Switzerland but was originally from the Czech Republic, had been unable to find her favourite childhood dish anywhere in the city, Jakub decided to take action and made a special meal, just for her. Dumplings served with bacon and onion never tasted so good!
The welcome home surprise
When a family staying at the Radisson Blu Resort, Split ran into difficulty out and about and their daughter ended up in the local hospital for a short stay, staff wanted to do all they could to help the family end their stay on a high! As the girl was discharged from hospital, General Manager, Nick, and his colleagues transformed the hotel lobby with a banner and balloons, and were all on hand to greet the family giving them a welcome to remember, not to mention some happy holiday memories too.
The musical surprise
Music can often be something that brings people together, and that was the certainly the case when Nadejda, Executive Housekeeper at the Radisson Blu Grand Hotel, Sofia, met a young girl during a charity event for homeless children taking place at the hotel. Having found out that they shared a passion for playing the guitar, but that the girl couldn’t afford one of her own, Nadejda decided to give the girl her own guitar as a present. Needless to say that was music to the young girl’s ears and she was absolutely thrilled by the gesture!
