Design: the Egg Chair exhibition arrives in Georgia

After stops in Nantes, Berlin and Riga, Radisson Blu’s Miniature EggTM Chair Exhibition has arrived at Radisson Blu Iveria Hotel in Tbilisi, Georgia. Until 25 September design aficionados can get a close look at 15 personalized miniature recreations of Danish architect Arne Jacobsen’s legendary Egg Chair, which was originally designed for the SAS Royal Hotel (now known as the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel, Copenhagen).

What’s more: on show is also a fascinating collection of up-and-coming Georgian designers who each present a chair design of their choice. Anuki Tavartqiladze Product Design, Surgula Studio, IAAI, Sandro Lominashvili and Line Architects give an interesting glimpse into the future of design made in Georgia.

The EggTM Chair Exhibition is the beautiful result of Radisson Blu’s online contest “Design Your Own Icon”, which invited guests and design enthusiasts to personalize the iconic Egg chair in their own special way 55 years after its conception. The 15 miniature creations on show were chosen from overwhelming 66,000 design entries from all over the world and of course include the winning design from Susan Bannister. The UK design talent was awarded a full-size Egg chair complete with her winning design, upholstered using the beautiful woolen fabric from Kvadrat.

2The exhibition first opened its doors on 12 September with a big opening event, bringing together over 150 people to celebrate design in a special atmosphere. Stop by before the 25th to discover the expo yourself!
