Fresh off the hotel’s first large venture into embracing art this year with their successful self-guided art tour app, which received media coverage from Architect Magazine and the New York Times, the Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel, Chicago wanted to take the next step towards expanding their art program to involve local artists and designers.
The hotel recently partnered with Columbia College Chicago, a non-profit liberal arts college, to create an exhibition program, Inspired at Blu. Over 30 students submitted up to 5 pieces of art for consideration, to be displayed in a public setting, providing great exposure for the student artists.
A panel consisting of members from the hotel and the college have selected 10 talented winners whose art and design will be on display at the hotel both inside the lobby, and projected onto the exterior wall on the south drive, now through early 2016. This art and design will enhance the hotel’s impressive collection of 20 independent pieces in the lobby’s art gallery, and 11-piece Vivian Maier photography series.
Can’t make it to Chicago to see for yourself? We’ve got the complete list of winning art and design right here.
