Design Talks: New design at Strand Hotel

Standard room Radisson Blu Strand Hotel Stockholm

Radisson Blu Strand Hotel has started its stunning renewal process. All 170 guest rooms, the entire meeting space, lobby, restaurants and bars are under transformation to enhance the guest experience and create Stockholm’s leading lifestyle hotel.

”This is a truly iconic building created by the architect Ludwig Peterson and built for the Olympics in 1912. Ever since the opening, the hotel has been known as THE place for joy and decadence and that world-class experience is exactly what we are recreating”, says General Manager Eva Kalling-Hansson at Radisson Blu Strand Hotel.

Together with the award-winning architects and designers Wingårdhs and DOOS, a new stylish elegant design has been created. Already now, the first guest rooms, the new meeting area and the transformed lobby is welcoming the first guests.

Design as DNA

The new design at Radisson Blu Strand Hotel is created to give the guests world-class experiences.

“Design is part of our DNA and with this new design we aim to enrich the guest experience by responding to the evolution in guests’ lifestyles, behaviour and expectations”, says Milott Widolf, designer and technical project manager at Rezidor Hotel Group.

DOOS Architects have already developed the first 38 guest rooms and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.

"We strive to give the guests a ’wow’-experience and let them live in a fairytale, surrounded with beautifully designed furniture, inspiring art and creative solutions when they visit the hotel. We are happy if the guests see this as their dream-home away from home”, says Alexandra Wachtmeister at DOOS.

With design furniture from Jensen Hilding, Gubi, Norman Copenhagen, Ruben and BB Sweden, the hotel is full of Scandinavian design, with clear international influences. Several design elements are added to compliment the rich history of the hotel.
