Move over Paris. Take a seat London. It’s St. Petersburg’s time to shine!
The city was chosen for this award because of its exceptionally rich history, centuries-old traditions and bright future, according to the World Travel Awards. This is the first time a Russian city has won in this category since the award program began 22 years ago. St. Petersburg beat out favorites such as Amsterdam, Venice and London – among others – to win.
The number for foreign tourists to Russian has increased by 16 percent in the first six months of 2015 – making it a much more affordable destination for many travelers. St. Petersburg also offers a multitude of memorable activities for those who love to travel. From the iconic Church of Our Savior on Spilled Blood, to the equally impressive Hermitage Museum, St. Petersburg is Russia’s cultural hub and well worth a visit.
