Capturing Cardiff from the Radisson Blu

Capturing the essence of a city is difficult for even the most experienced photographer- but a local man from Cardiff has managed to do just that.

Peri Trigkas, 41, originally from Greece entered Radisson Blu Hotel, Cardiff’s ‘Capture Cardiff’ competition managed to get an incredible shot of the city from twenty-one stories up (which officially makes Radisson Blu Hotel Cardiff the tallest hotel in the city!).

The Winning Image - Peri Trigkas

Peri’s photograph, a landscape view over Cardiff, along with 18 other entries was placed into a social media poll. After beating off stiff competition, Peri was named in the top three and was crowned the winner after an independent vote by Radisson Blu, Cardiff staff.

As part of his prize, Peri’s photo will be displayed in the hotel and used in the hotel’s marketing collateral. He will also receive a meal for two at our authentic Italian restaurant, Filini, and an overnight stay at the hotel.

I am overwhelmed by everyone's support and votes. I was pleased to make it to top three given the level of competition, but winning was totally unexpected. I love photography and definitely love Cardiff, the Radisson Blu photo competition combined both.  The opportunity to capture such views from the top floor of one of the tallest buildings in Cardiff is not something to be missed.

Having my work showcased by one of the biggest International Hotel companies is without any doubt a major thing. The timing is great too because my company Visual Art Studio, have recently developed an offering in commercial and advertising photography. We hope to help more businesses stand out with our high impact photography.

Everyone who came along was amazed by how much of the city they could see from the suite and seemed to really enjoy capturing it on camera. We were overwhelmed by the standard and creativity of the entries we received, which made it really tough to choose a winner. Peri’s picture looks just like a painting and really captures the beauty of this city, which is why it came out on top.

Well done Peri! We can’t wait to see more amazing photography from atop our other Radisson Blus.
