Radisson Blu opened its very first hotel in Rwanda just last year, and it’s not just any hotel: apart from stunning guest rooms, it also boasts a gigantic Convention center covering 53,000 square meters (the largest in the region).
With its iconic design, a majestic dome paying tribute to the shape of traditional Rwandan huts, the Radisson Blu Hotel & Convention Centre, Kigali effortlessly combines Rwandan culture and modernity and is billed to become one of the country’s major architectural landmarks. The fact that the 27th African Union Summit, one of the continent’s most important political gatherings, took place in the newly inaugurated convention center, is quite the stamp of approval.
The adjacent Radisson Blu buildings equally impress with their thoughtful and emblematic design: surrounded by multicolored bands, they hint at ancient Rwandan baskets.
While the convention center and the hotel’s location in close proximity to government institutions is ideal for business, the Radisson Blu hotel Kigali is also the perfect base for leisure travelers to explore Rwanda’s incredible biodiversity, wildlife and natural beauty. After all it’s not for nothing that the country is often referred to as ‘The Land of a Thousand Hills’ and ‘Land of the Eternal Spring’. Plus, it’s one of the few places in the world where tourists can see the famous mountain gorillas!
Here are a few more impressions of the project's beautiful design and architecture.
