Each June local design festival DecorAccion beautifully transforms an entire Madrid neighbourhood: the charming Barrio de las letras (Literary district). During the festival the Literary district is buzzing with design fans enjoying pop-up stores and all kinds of stands and artistic installations showcasing the latest design innovations.
The area is also the home of Radisson Blu Hotel, Madrid Prado. This year, the hotel's façade has been creatively transformed by art students from the University of Nebrija. The project, called Sólo Palabras ("only words"), was inspired by guests' travel experience in Madrid. For one month, guests were asked "Why would you come back to Madrid?". Using their answers, artists created an installation made up of over 65 illuminated signs and 135 wooden letters.
Take a stroll through the colourful maze of streets or just soak in the atmosphere and fascinating creations before taking a break to relax in a café or restaurant. Use the Radisson Blu Hotel, Madrid Prado as a base for exploring the vibrant Barrio de las letras. And if you hurry, you may even be able to catch the hotel's installation which is on display until September!
