The first part of the new year will not pass silently in Dubai. A wide range of events and festivals await. Nothing in Dubai is done half-heartedly. Everything is slightly bigger, a little more modern and a lot more glamorous in this progressive Emirate. The first couple of months of the year are eventful, exciting, and the perfect time to explore what this glorious city has to offer. Here are some of the best events and festivals of the upcoming new year:
Dubai Jazz Festival
The Emirates Airlines Dubai Jazz Festival is the most awarded and longest-running music festival in the United Arab Emirates. It has attracted over 500,000 fans and featured more than 450 shows since its inception in 2003, with people attending from across the UAE and around the world to enjoy beautiful music. The 2018 edition featured artists such as John Legend, Ricky Martin, and Duran Duran! Stay tuned for this year's big line up.
The festival will take place in February with a 3-day event, and will held be in Dubai Media City Amphitheatre, near the Radisson Blu Hotel Dubai Media City, making this property the perfect accommodation if you are planning to attend this event.
Dubai Shopping Festival
Kick off the New Year and its busy events calendar with the Dubai Shopping Festival which will run for one whole month, starting in December and ending in January. The “DSF” is, in fact, the biggest shopping and entertainment extravaganza in the Middle East, offering a range of glamorous events and activities.
This year the biggest malls across the city are stepping up the spirit with fun, lively in-mall entertainment, using innovative acts and performances to dazzle and delight shoppers. You will also be treated to special promotions and themed entertainment shows. Stay at Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Media City or Radisson Blu Hotel Dubai Waterfront for this extravagant event.
In February and March the “Beach Canteen” returns to Dubai as part of the Dubai Food Festival. Visitors will be able to browse a selection of some of Dubai’s best home-grown restaurant concepts and food trucks, as well as pick up some culinary tips from local and international celebrity chefs. As well as food, there will also be plenty of activities for the whole family, with fitness classes, a kids’ play area, live music from Dubai-based bands, and a market. The festival will be held across various locations around Dubai, so keep your eyes peeled for the full program.
