Dubai offers many great public beaches within easy reach from the heart of the city. Leave the bustling - and often hot! - city behind and head to one of the tranquil beaches for a relaxing, refreshing, and fun-filled day out. Check out our guide to the best beaches in Dubai below.
Tips before heading to the beach
While many beach resorts in Dubai only allow entrance to paying guests, there are also several public beaches situated near the city centre and the Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Waterfront. Due to the sometimes overwhelmingly hot summer in Dubai, the beaches are best enjoyed between September-May, although heading there during the summer months will likely mean less crowds. Safety on the beaches is taken seriously as lifeguards are present at the most popular beaches from 8am-6pm. All the public beaches listed below are pristine and tidy with glistening sands and modern facilities for your enjoyment.
Al-Mamzar Beach Park
This beach park is situated on the tip of Al-Mamzar and is surrounded by a charming, lush landscaped park. All the beaches within the park are white and sandy, while the water is pure. This contrasted against the rich green gardens makes it a beautiful place to spend the day. The beach park has plenty of open space and play areas for kids, making it the perfect place for the family. If you are travelling with a partner or alone, looking for a quiet spot to relax and avoid large crowds, the park has plenty of space for that. For business travelers, Al-Mazar Beach Park is also ideal for a spot of relaxation after long day at work. In addition to the magnificent beaches, you can also find swimming pools, BBQ areas, Jet Ski hire, and kiosks selling much needed cold drink and snacks. Upon sundown, it’s a popular place for photographers who come here to capture the city lights and the colourful sky reflecting on the water.
Entry to the beach is fee: 5 AED per person to enter beach and a park
Distance from the hotel: 30 min drive away from Dubai
Jumeirah Beach Park
Only 20 minutes away from the hotel, you will find the popular Jumeirah Beach Park. This was actually Dubai’s first beach park when it opened back in 1989, and it has frequently been compared to South Beach in Miami, US. It is no wonder! When you see the crystal clear water and white dreamy sand dunes for yourself, you will understand why. It is surrounded by grasslands which are ideal for picnics. The beach offers good facilities, such as changing rooms, kiosks, BBQ areas, sun beds and shades, as well as volleyball courts. Due to its popularity, and its close proximity to the city centre, it can be a bit crowded during the weekends, so if you are looking to have the beach for yourself then weekdays are the best time to visit.
Kite Beach is said by many to be one of the greatest public beaches in Dubai. Arguably, it is the best location for activities such kite surfing, beach volleyball, and football. It is located only a 20 minute drive by car from the city, and is must if you want to give kite surfing a go while you are staying in Dubai. If you have never tried kite surfing before, you can take lessons at Kitesurf School Dubai, situated right next to Kite Beach. There are great opportunities to take lessons here, and try the sport against the wonderful city backdrop.
