A highlight for kids at this fantastic tourist attraction is the Garden Railway, which takes passengers around a pond on a real mini steam engine. A stunning model railway, steam locomotive show and variety of real trains will appeal to all visitors. The transport museum also houses interactive exhibitions on cars, airplanes, helicopters, cable cars and other vehicles.
A 3D cinema at the Swiss Museum of Transport provides daily showings of stunning, family friendly films. The Museum’s Planetarium gives visitors an amazing glimpse of the skies above us, and people can experience a space-walk from the comfort of their chair.
At the Swiss Museum of Transport, children will have fun in the Traffic garden, where they learn traffic rules while playing in a pedal cart. They can set to work with shovels and mini diggers at the Road construction arena. Everyone will enjoy getting around the large museum on one of the Micro Scooters for visitors, with special scooters for young children.
On the banks of the River Reuss is a fantastic museum that gives visitors a glimpse of Swiss history. The Lucerne Nature Museum makes for a fun family day out, as it gives an exciting insight into the natural world. As well as looking at plants and animals, visitors to the museum can learn more about geology and technology through a range of innovative exhibitions. Children will especially love seeing animals living in terrariums and aquariums, as well as taking part in some of the museum's special events for kids.
Lucerne is home to an exciting new form of sightseeing, which is perfect for families with older children. The Foxtrail is a paper chase that takes place in various locations throughout the city. Groups of 2 or more are left clues by the Foxtrail-Fox which will help them chase him around Lucerne. Wind your way towards the Fox in the nooks and crannies of the old town, through the wide green parks, and over water.
Families should also head to the Glacier Garden for a great day out in Lucerne. On a sunny day you can stroll around the gardens with a picnic and enjoy the natural sights and sounds of the park. The park is home to one of Lucerne’s most famous attractions, the poignant Lion Monument. While there, be sure to visit the reconstruction of an alpine log cabin and climb up the Observation Tower for views of the city.
Learn about ice and glaciers in the Glacier Garden museum, which has a range of fascinating exhibits, interactive displays and exhibitions. A star attraction, especially for children, is the Mirror Maze, first created in 1896 for the Swiss national exhibition in Geneva. There, you can play with your reflection and amuse your family with a range of distorting effects in over 90 mirrors.

The Culture and Convention Centre in Lucerne is often home to family friendly events, having recently hosted a Disney Concert of Pirates of the Caribbean. In March 2014, the stunning Tim Burton version of Alice in Wonderland will be shown in a special Disney in Concert World Premiere. The Disney Concert Library's 21st Century Symphony Orchestra and Chorus in collaboration with Boys Choir Lucerne will perform Danny Elfman’s score while the film plays. Families will also find a great array of food on offer at the Centre’s World Café, a buffet style restaurant of world cuisine.
