At the heart of the Canary Islands, Gran Canaria, located opposite Tenerife, is a little paradise where the temperature never falls below 15°C. A hotel on the waterside and the sea as the horizon… You're not dreaming, you're in paradise. Check out the blog for some inspiration when planning your well-needed beach-side vacation in Gran Canaria.
A pleasant climate
If you've arrived in Gran Canaria, then you're in the know. This miniature continent has an exceptional environment. Its climate – one of the best in all of Europe, its water temperature 18°C in winter and 22°C during the rest of the year, and its exceptional sailing conditions for kite surfing, sailing or golf make it a well-kept secret.
A stunning hotel with a view
The Radisson Blu Resort Gran Canaria is located in the southern part, in Arguineguín, next to a white-sandy beach, alongside the magnificent beaches of Aquamarina and Patalavaca. You'll enjoy a calming view from your room onto the ocean. Adjacent to the countryside, rolling hills can be seen as far as the eye can see. Still not convinced? Check out the 24H panoramic view from the rooftop camera!
A wealth of activities for the young and not-so-young
Because of its uncommon landscape, UNESCO has declared it a "Biosphere Reserve". So rest assured, all efforts are being made to safeguard the island's natural habitat and its biodiversity. This preserved "micro-world" accounts for half of the island's geographic area.
Follow stunning hiking trails to the arid zones where thistles and tabaibas grow. The valleys, however, are the site of charming palm groves. And don't forget to lose yourself in the narrow streets of small villages. You'll be amazed by a surprising neo-Gothic church in the middle of a banana plantation or by an indigenous loft attached to a huge cliff.
As far as water activities go, divers will appreciate the lava flows that can be viewed under the water's surface. And sailors can navigate the large cliffs by foot and take a dip not far from the interconnected sandbanks. On land, fans of golf or endurance races will be spoilt for choice. (If you're there in August, don't miss the 2018 ITF Women Tournament!) If you're there in the autumn and are looking to take in some culture, you can enjoy the "Cándido Candide" exhibition dedicated to the artist Leonard Bernstein, at the Atlantic Center of Modern Art (CAAM).
