Jeddah: a shopper´s paradise

Jeddah offers many opportunities for anyone who loves shopping. In this bustling Saudi Arabian city, located on the coast of the Red Sea, there are countless shopping centres and stores.

Here are the highlights:

Jeddah is full of impressive shopping centres. One of the largest is Mall of Arabia, which houses around 250 stores and restaurants. In addition to endless shopping opportunities, this four-storey mall also offers a theme park and the world’s largest indoor playground. So, while you spend your time on some retail therapy, your kids will be happily entertained too. From slides and trampolines, to climbing areas and ball pools, it is easy to spend hours here.

At Al Salaam Mall you will find shops as far as the eye can see. More than 200 stores include high street brands and international fashion labels, and around 35 dining outlets. Al Salaam Mall houses the biggest indoor theme park in Jeddah with over 23 amusement games and rides, so again there is plenty to keep the family entertained.

You should also check out the Aziz Mall. This mall also offers around 200 stores, including both local and global brands like Aldo, GAP, L’Occitane, La Senza, Steve Madden and Zara. Again there are great entertainment facilities here including an indoor play area where your kids can hang out while you go shopping.

The Red Sea Mall claims to be one of the largest in all of the Middle East. Its sheer scale means you are guaranteed to find everything you need under one roof. When you need that well deserved break there are plenty of restaurants, cafes and food outlets to choose from. Then, why not join family or friends at the bowling alley before heading back to your hotel.

Tahlia Street

This is maybe the most important fashion and shopping street in the whole of Jeddah. As Oxford Street is the hub for shopping in London, Tahlia Street is for Jeddah. It is considered to be one of the wealthiest districts in Saudi Arabia and is full of exclusive brands such as Prada, Gucci, Versace, Louis Vuitton, Dolce & Gabbana, Ralph Lauren and Giorgio Armani, to name a few. If you like the glitz and glamour of high-end shopping, then this is the place to visit.

If your purse strings don’t stretch that far, then it is still worth taking a trip here, sitting down in one of the many cafes or restaurants and just taking in the lovely surroundings and enjoying the good side of life.

The Radisson Blu Royal Suite Hotel, Jeddah is just a five minute walk from Tahlia Street. This location makes it an ideal place stay for any shopaholic looking to make the most of their stay here. If your hands are full of bags, it is just a short way back to the hotel to drop them off before you head back out to continue shopping.

Don’t forget, along your way, to also pay a visit to the Old Town of Balad too. Here you will find many local artefacts and great souvenirs to remind you of your holidays once you are back home. There is no doubt that Jeddah is a shopping paradise. With so many large malls and stores, a trip to Jeddah is mandatory for anyone looking for some retail therapy when visiting the Middle East.
