Particularly in Kyiv you can find an incredible array of outdoor music bashes during the sunny season, providing an exciting mix of famous rock stars and younger, up-and-coming bands. Here are our favorite picks!
Okean Elzy
Okean Elzy is one of Ukraine’s most successful and popular Ukrainian rock bands. They’ve made quite a name for themselves since their foundation back in 1994, and are not only adored in their home country but also in the rest of Eastern Europe. If you want to get a real glimpse of the local music culture, than head to Kyiv’s Olympic arena on 24 August, where the group will present their new album.
U-Park Festival
What a line-up! Kyiv’s U-Park festival, lasting from 25 to 26 July, is one of the absolute highlights this summer, with international superstars such as Gorillaz, Tove Lo and Bonobo heading the bill. Boasting around 40 000 festival-goers each year, it’s one of the country’s biggest music events, which of course takes place on the capital’s largest stage: the Olympic stadium. Other headliners include Young Fathers, Massive Attack, Kaleo, and many more.
Atlas Weekend
No genre limitations. Only good music! Atlas Weekend, held from 3 - 8 July, brings together a great blend of international and homegrown artists, including Lost Frequencies, The Chemical Brothers and many more. Plus, there will be theatre and art performances, a food market, and activities for kids. A great event for the whole family!
International Holi Color Festival
Originally celebrated in India, this bright and positive Holi Color Festival is also gathering everyone in Kiev on 9th of June. The festival not only offers the traditional battle with dry colors and fun show programs, but also multiple music locations and a great line-up.
