Plan Your Winter City Break in Kyiv (Part 1)

Kyiv in winter is very different from the lush, green garden during the warmer months. Snowy landscape, white trees and freshness of the frosty air put in the center of your attention the beauty of the architecture. No matter which Radisson Blu hotel in Kiev you stay at – you will enjoy your city break in Kyiv.

To help keep our guests snug and cozy, we've developed a short sightseeing guide around the Kiev center.

Staying in the Radisson Blu Hotel, Kyiv, after enjoying our popular #SuperBreakfast, go visit the closest to attraction to the hotel. The Golden Gate Kiev is only 5 minutes walking from the hotel. It was the main gate in the 11th-century fortifications of Kiev - the capital of Kievan Rus'.

Afterwards you can proceed to the St.Sophias Cathedral  which in its time was the first site in Ukraine to be inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The spacious Sofiiska square in front of the glorious bell tower is usually a place for city festivals and celebrations.

Nearby  - actually one opposite another – you will notice a St. Michael's Golden-Domed Monastery. It will be a love from the first sight. Its vibrant light-blue color, sparkling golden domes under the sun and bright fresco paintings will fascinate you. Can you imagine what is inside?

Having warmed up in the Monastery take a 10 minutes’ walk to the Kyiv central street and historically well-known Maidan square. Here you can find many underground shops, restaurants and cafes for any taste and price point.  Strolling Khreshchatyk, you won’t miss the newly renovated, unique Kiev department store – TSUM. This is the location not only for Ukrainian and international fashion brands, but a venue for presentations, events and entertainment.

Climbing up Bohdana Khmelnitskigo street you will reach the National Opera of Ukraine. Ballet and opera performances will become a romantic escape in the evening. After the performance you can enjoy a special offer in our Italian restaurant Mille Miglia, showing your National opera house ticket.
