Madrid is home to Spain’s busiest airport, the Madrid-Barajas Airport. Located just 12 kilometres from the city centre, it is a hub for flights from around the world, and enjoys excellent connections to Madrid.

Visitors on a business trip to Madrid can take advantage of the city’s underground metro service. There are great bus links through Madrid, and vehicles can be rented for travellers who wish to drive. At night, many people use the city’s good taxi providers for convenience. The white and red cabs can be hailed from the street, found in taxi ranks around Madrid, or ordered by phone.

As a growing destination for big business events, Madrid can boast excellent convention centres, trade fair venues, and other facilities.

The sprawling complex of IFEMA's Convention and Congress Centres can be found at the north east of the city. The Metro station Campo de las Naciones stops right outside the South Entrance of the complex.

The IFEMA Convention and Congress Centres, Feria de Madrid, has many different venues for visitors attending conferences in Madrid. These include the grand North Convention and Congress Centre, the large auditorium of the South Convention and Congress Centre, and a variety of other rooms and halls for meetings and fairs.

The Municipal Congress Centre of Madrid can also be found in Campo de las Naciones. This airy and large building often hosts international conferences in Madrid, such as summits for the EU and UN, financial conferences and World Bank meetings.

Madrid presents an excellent variety of event facilities at the Casa de Campo Convention Centre, known as the Casa de Campo Fairground. The venues in this 67 hectare area host conferences, fairs, meetings, exhibitions and even concerts. Trade Shows can often be found in the Cristal Pavillion and Conventions Pavilion, and the spectacular Madrid Arena.

Watch out for the upcoming ESMO Congress 2014 which takes place in the IFEMA Convention and Congress Centres. The European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) present world leading research at their renowned oncology conferences. The theme for this year’s congress is ‘Precision Medicine in Cancer Care’ and will explore the issues surrounding the ideals and reality of cancer care today. ESMO Congress 2014 takes place from 26 to 30 September 2014.
