Take part in Earth Hour with Radisson Blu

Earth Hour at Radisson Blu

Starting as a symbolic lights out event in Sydney in 2007, Earth Hour is now the world's largest grassroots movement for the environment, inspiring millions of people to take action for our planet and nature. We're delighted to say that many of our hotels are planning on joining the thousands of households and businesses across the globe to celebrate Earth Hour this 30 March!

Each year hotels turn off their non-essential lights and other electrical appliances for one hour to raise awareness on climate change. Radisson Blu hotels take the opportunity of Earth Hour – an environmental initiative supported by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) – to engage guests, employees and business partners in their pursuit for energy savings by organizing a variety of fun activities around a 'lights out' initiative, among others. Take a look at some of our favorite photos from last year's event:

Radisson Blu Hotel, Bucharest

Apart from turning off the lights that don't affect the safety of their guests, the Radisson Blu Hotel, Bucharest is leaving in-room letters inviting guests to join the campaign and to turn off the lights in their rooms. A special Earth Hour Cocktail will also be organized in the lobby.

Radisson Blu Hotel, Doha

Along with energy saving measures such as switching off lights, lighting candles, and turning off all non-critical electrical appliances, the Radisson Blu Hotel, Doha set up an Earth Houe Pledge Wall for guests to inscribe their commitment to reduce, reuse and recycle. Earth Mocktails and Earth Hour cupcakes were also served for the occasion!

Radisson Blu Hotel, Tashkent

Just like last year, the Radisson Blu Hotel, Tashkent will be joining the thousands of households and businesses across the globe and will be shutting off some of their lights at 8:30pm. Last year, during that hour, hotel staff and volunteers demonstrated alternative ways of generating electricity, for example with a generator mounted on an exercise bicycle, the rotation of which generated electricity.
