A Peach of a Beach

Sohar’s vast, quiet sweep of sun-washed, pale soft sand offers the ultimate escape from urban stress: perfect for jogging, yoga, horse riding, diving, beach games, relaxing and fresh air. For families, for couples, for everyone.

Land Ahoy!

The sleepy town of Sohar has been brought vibrantly to modern life in recent decades. Sultan Qaboos, a spectacular, new, grand royal mosque, opened in 2016 with a gorgeous garden, four minarets, a shimmering blue main dome and a magnificent central chandelier. The town’s portside area has also recently been developed - with sophisticated malls and stylish residential units. But, thankfully, Sohar is also still truly colorful and authentic - the buzzing souk is packed with useful tailors, fruit sellers and fishermen. The chic Corniche stretches along the waterfront, with a park, restaurants and a fish market. And there’s also camel-racing track and an imposing fort - now home to a museum -  keeping guard over the bay.
