If you want to be entertained when in Switzerland this July, then grab yourself some tickets to the Basel Tattoo 2016. This huge event has had the feet tapping of close to a million spectators over the last ten years. Bands are marching, music is thick in the air and you will be treated to all kinds of cool performances. Keep reading for what’s on and why you should join this spectacular event.

Where military meets music

The Basel Tattoo is a seriously fun and entertaining military event held each summer. The whole city becomes a spectacle as military bands, dancers, choirs and more fill the streets with music. The event is inspired by The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, and features Military Mass Pipes and Drums from around the globe, as well as other traditional military performances and dancing. Watch perfectly timed marches and performances and be dazzled by bright costumes and fireworks, as your pulse matches up to each drum beat.

So what kinds of things can you expect with a ticket to the Tattoo in 2016? The HM Royal Marines from Great Britain will be marching, Finland is sending their conscript band and the Omani Royal Guard will put on a show to remember. A number of countries will be represented, all with something sensational to show.

Dance to the sounds of the parade

One of the highlights of the event is the parade. On July 23, 2016, 1,000 Tattoo participants will march through the streets from 14:00, performing for smiling spectators. The march starts from Bäumleingasse and goes through to Messeplatz so you’ll have plenty of opportunities to catch it.

The Basel Tattoo is one of those events that will awe you from beginning to end and have you telling your friends about when you get home.
